News and feature freelance writers wanted

Between The Lines Newspaper, Michigan's LGBT news source, is looking for talented feature and news writers.

Feature writers will pen the long-form, creative and investigative stories that grace our covers and special issues.

Ideal candidates will have:

-At least two years of experience writing for newspapers or magazines
-A variety of clips that demonstrate a mastery of storytelling
-A demonstrated record of juggling multiple deadlines
-A solid grasp of AP style and English grammar

News writers will report on political and nonprofit developments and events that are of particular importance to the LGBT community.

Ideal candidates will:

-Have at least two years of experience reporting hard news
-Have a variety of clips that demonstrate breaking news and investigative coverage
-Live in southeast Michigan or Lansing
-Demonstrate an understanding of Michigan's political processes and players
-Be able to complete fair, accurate stories on deadline
-Be capable of taking photos and/or video to accompany stories
-Have a solid grasp of AP style and English grammar

BTL has covered LGBT news, politics and entertainment since 1993. The weekly publication reaches 50,000 readers across Michigan, and the website, pridesource.com, attracts more than 100,000 views each month. BTL prides itself on creating accurate, creative and investigative stories that make our readers think.
