quiet Shorts Call for Submissions

quiet Shorts is a quarterly arts journal that exhibits a collection of voices – poems, essays, short stories, memoirs, reviews, lyrics, photographs, drawings, paintings and other forms best suited for the page. By placing our voices next to each other, quiet Shorts aims to provide a context for dialogue, a place for education, and a seed for motivation.

quiet's 2011 season theme is enGender Bender: Exploring our social blueprints. All 2011 issues of quiet Shorts will explore this theme. Remember, the theme is simply the catalyst to get your ideas flowing; dive in and see where it takes you.

Submissions for the Summer 2011 issue are due by Saturday, April 23rd, 2011.

The next quiet Shorts issue will be released online and in hard copy form Saturday, June 25th, 2011 with a FREE online preview available Saturday, June 18th, 2011.

Submission Info:

All submissions (visual, literary etc.) should be emailed to submissions@quietonline.org with "quiet Shorts Submission" in the subject line. Include your name, your email, and the title of your work in the body of your submission email. All work (written or visual) must be submitted by attachment. Written: Microsoft Word (2003 or newer) or rich text format documents. Visual: JPEG image.

quiet Shorts will accept simultaneous submissions, but make sure to notify quiet if your work is accepted elsewhere.

quiet Shorts is supported by quiet, a Seattle-based, nonprofit arts community that strives to create intentional art that encourages dialogue. Each accepted submission will receive a stipend of $15.00 per submission. It is quiet’s goal to promote both art and artist, and it views compensation as a sign of support.
