Polari, London’s popular monthly queer cultural cafe event, has launched a book prize for new authors and is seeking submissions for its first award in 2011.
The judges will announce a long list at the 2011 London Literature Festival at the Southbank Centre in July and a short list published at the end of September 2011. The winner will be announced in November at Polari’s 4th birthday.
Judges for The Polari First Book Prize compeition are Paul Burston, author and host of Polari, Rachel Holmes of the Southbank Centre, Joe Storey Scott of Prowler, Suzi Feay, Associate Editor at the Financial Times and Fiona McMorrough of Fiona McMorrough Associates.
The deadline for submissions is 1 Feb 2011, and books must have been published in the 12 month period preceding that date. Submissions must be made by the UK publisher, or if self-published sent with a one page letter stating how and why the book was published that way.
