Out on the Margins: 15 Stories of Queerness, Color, and Growing Up (Working Title)
I am calling for submissions for an anthology of short stories (between 4,000 and 10,000 words) centering on protagonists of color and queer sexualities. Too long have stories of gays, lesbians, and transsexuals been focusing on white protagonists in white families in middle-class America. I am hoping to bring together approximately 15 stories about the experiences of queer, non-white protagonists in an attempt to highlight the experiences of marginalized young people in North America.
Publisher: Publisher yet to be secured.
Rate of pay: As I have not yet secured a publisher, I am still in the process of determining financial compensation. I am hoping to provide either an honorarium or a certain percentage of proceeds from sales. I cannot guarantee a per-word payment for the reasons previously stated. All authors will be given two copies of the anthology.
Deadline: March 2011
Send submissions to: queer.anthology@yahoo.com
