Open Call for Submissions for “Coming Out” Stories and Performances
The Hispanic AIDS Forum, Inc., is pleased to announce an open call for submissions for “coming out” stories and performances for our upcoming annual event commemorating National Coming Out month, “It’s Time/¡Es El Momento!.” The event is scheduled to take place on October 15, 2010 from 6:00pm – 9:00pm at the Hostos Community College Theater, located at 475 Grand Concourse, Bronx, NY 10453
“It’s Time/¡Es El Momento” is an opportunity to gather the LGBT community and the larger community in the Bronx to come together for an evening of solidarity in the fight for equal rights for members of the LGBT community. We want our voices to be heard and our empowering presence to be felt.
This open call is an opportunity for you or your loved ones to share your personal journey of acceptance, help inspire those still coming to terms with their identity, and celebrate the sexual diversity of our communities with other members of the LGBT community and its allies. We encourage all members of the community to send in a submission and encourage all types of stories (happy, sad, painful, inspiring, or celebratory) and format (spoken word, dance, song, theatre, other performance style). Submissions are accepted from LGBT members, friends or family members of LGBT individuals. Please note that submissions are not guaranteed to be selected for the event.
Submission Guidelines:
• For consideration, please submit the attached submission form with a summary of your story and/or performance piece. Summary of the story should be in no more than 350 words, typed in either English or Spanish.
• All performance submissions, regardless of format, style, or content, should be a maximum of 5 minutes in length.
• Submissions will be reviewed and if pre-selected, you will be invited to participate in an audition to be held on September 15th, 2010 from 6-8pm, at HAF’s Bronx Site located at 975 Kelly Street, Suite 402, Bronx, NY 10459. A panel of judges will select three stories to be included in the event program.
• After auditions are held, those selected will be notified by September 20th, 2010.
• Please note that if you are selected, you will be required to be available the day of October 15th starting 2pm for a dress rehearsal at the event location and to stay for the duration of the event.

All submissions must be received on or before Friday, September 10th, 2010 at noon. Please make sure to complete the submission form and to answer all of the questions listed.
