My Agender, is Stephanie Tipping’s current project. Stef is a social worker and continues to work within the Youth Justice field. Additionally, Stef has immense volunteer experience working within the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, intersex, & queer [GLBTIQ] community, namely working on Committees of Management, telephone counselling, developing support groups, and organising public demonstrations and events. Stef sees communities as the sum of many unique parts which make a whole; together we can achieve great things
Stef’s current project is to produce a book of personal stories with the goal of creating a space for people to articulate their gender and sex, rather than allowing others to make assumptions and set expectations based on stereotypical behaviours. This project will view gender as a social construct, where children are dressed in dresses/pants, blue/pink, all depending on their biological sex, and socialised to behave with typical feminine or masculine characteristics. Thus, gender is how one presents, via appearance, mannerism, and social interactions, their gender to the world & how the world is informed by their own experiences.
