Open Call: DC Speak Easy

Post date: 12 September 2010
Call for true stories about gay weddings and marriage. Hillwood Estate, Museum and Gardens and SpeakeasyDC are teaming up to present a show that celebrates the newfound right of hundreds of couples in DC who can now legally marry, as part of a special wedding-themed Gay Day. We are looking for stories that celebrate all stages and perspectives on gay weddings and marriage. Are you thinking about getting married? Are you uninterested in marriage? Are you planning a wedding and freaking out? Have you already had a Commitment Ceremony? Do you have crazy in-laws? Have you been married and divorced already? If you think you might have a good story idea, contact Amy Saidman at info@speakeasydc.org. The SpeakeasyDC folks will choose six people that they will coach and get ready for the final performance on October 2.

For more information on Gay Day at Hillwood, please visit hillwoodmuseum.org, and check out the October calendar and the GLBT Outreach page (under About Us). If you are not familiar with a SpeakeasyDC-style performance, please visit their website at www.speakeasydc.org.
