Where did you come from? Where are you going? What's your story?
Every person has a story to tell and this class will teach you how to construct and tell yours using the time-honored tradition of oral storytelling. Part memoir, part stand-up, part sitting around gabbing, storytelling unites and empowers. This workshop will explore what the best ways are to release our stories into the world. We're looking at the story as a moldable creation. We're talking about the exterior--shape--and the interior--content--and the decisions that go into composing it. Through readings, performance and discussion, we will examine structure, editing, word choice, timing and other tools of great storytellers.
Join celebrated performer R. Eric Thomas ("One of Philly's most talented queer storytellers" - Philadelphia Weekly) on a journey that anyone can and should embark on.
Tell us: Who are you? What have you done? Did you fly here or swim here? What's your story?
