We are currently seeking an editor who is familiar with the Downtown and Uptown areas, and who possesses excellent writing and editing skills.
THIS POSITION REQUIRES:
- a college journalism degree or significant equivalent experience
- at least two years of experience managing a newspaper or periodical experience managing freelance writers and reporters
- the ability to mine meetings, websites and neighborhoods for news
- the ability to write compelling news stories, fun features and eye-catching headlines in AP style
- is organized, professional and a team player, and has good people skills
- is an energetic idea person who doesn't mind working an occasional evening and attending occasional community events.
OTHER PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- familiarity with WordPress and website operation
- knowledge of InDesign software
