Mid-Career Novelist Prize
The Outstanding Mid-Career Novelists’ Prize will be presented annually at the Lambda Literary Awards ceremony. The award, made possible by James Duggins, PhD, consists of two cash prizes of $5000.

1. The award will be presented to one self-identified man and one self-identified woman, and age will not be a factor in defining mid-career.
2. The award will recognize emergent LGBT authors who have written and published at least three novels or two novels and substantial additional literary work such as poetry, short stories, essays.
3. The authors will be of demonstrated ability and show promise for growth.
4. Candidates’ contributions to the LGBT literary field beyond their writings and publications will also be considered.
Application
* Please keep in mind that the prize is intended for writers who are mid-career or emergent. This is not a prize for lifetime achievement.
* Individuals may nominate themselves or other writers.
* Submissions are closed for 2011. For 2012, all materials must be postmarked by February 1, 2012.
Please include the following materials in the nomination:
* How has the nominee contributed to the field of LGBT literature? (1500 word maximum)
* List the nominee’s major published works, which must include at least three novels or two novels and substantial additional literary work such as poetry, short stories, essays.
* Anything else you want to add supporting this candidate? (500 word maximum)
Optional
* Letters of recommendation for the candidate may be e-mailed to Lambda Literary Foundation to support the candidate’s nomination. The letters must come directly from the person making the recommendation. E-mail letters to midcareerprize@lambdaliterary.org
