Call for Submissions: Periwinkle Queer Art Journal

Post date: 08 April 2011
Deadline: 31 May 2011

Submissions:

The 2nd issue deadline is May 31st. Please email the editor, Christopher Carroll: Chris@PeriwinkleJournal.com

Writers:

We are a visual art journal, looking for writing about LGBTQ art, artists and queer culture - non-fiction, mostly. We like artist profiles and confessions, details about the creative process, that sort of stuff. We also like reading all the of other stuff that people send, and maybe we'll do an e-book of queer prose or something. But, for now, we need people to blog about queer art, write profiles and reviews. If you can spin a mundane press release into something fabulous, then we need you. Real bad.

Visual Art:

We are always looking at artwork in any media by lgbtq artists and stuff that appeals to our readers. When submitting, please let us know if it is ok to feature your work on our blog, or if you are submitting a full feature for an upcoming issue. Please include some brief information about the work, and/or a link to your site. We are unable to pay for contributions at this time. For the most part, we can only reply to artists whose submissions are accepted for the current issue. We do look at everything, and love all of it.

(untitled) Big Gay Nud3 Book:

We are putting together a collection of male nud3s & homoer0tic art. We encourage creative interpretations of the theme, as well as work that challenges gender stereotypes and subverts the gay male gaze. We love that. We need the final artwork in print resolution (300dpi) if accepted. Open deadline.

About us:

Our aim is to showcase the diversity and creativity of the LGBTQ community through our art. By featuring underground and locally-established artists alongside international creators, we hope to further the visibility of queer artists world-wide.
