The Metropolitan Museum of Art, one of the world’s finest museums, seeks an Editor in the Direct Marketing department. The Editor's primary responsibility will be to write copy for all web-related initiatives. This will include writing promotional copy for the website (homepage, on-site advertisements, landing pages, and new features as they are created), as well as static pages (Customer Service, FAQs, Privacy Policy, etc.), and marketing campaigns (Met Store email, search marketing, banner ads, and partner programs). This position will manage the Direct-to-Consumer copy style guide for both web and catalogue, and will conduct market research and competitive analysis to develop a compelling presentation of key features for new products and categories as they are offered. The Editor will collaborate with other Direct Marketing staff that produces and/or edit copies for catalogue and art text in order to standardize terminology across media and channels in order to present a consistent voice to the customer.
Additional responsibilities include, writing for emails, homepages and feature pages (Gift Guide, Holiday Shop, etc.), writing catalogue headlines and "stories", maintaining copy style guide for both catalogue and web, as well as, researching markets to establish guidelines for new product categories for catalogue and web
Successful candidates will have at least 4 years experience product and promotional copywriting experience, preferably in a retail/merchandising environment with a cultural focus plus a minimum of one year writing copy for the web. Familiarity with content tools is desirable. Strong editorial and verbal communication skills are required. Proficiency in Word, PowerPoint; InDesign and HTML a plus. Ability to work in fast-paced, team-oriented environment and manage multiple, concurrent tasks/projects is preferred. BA degree required, Art History and/or museum background preferred.
