Seeking short works: Book-length collection of transgender literary fiction

Topside Press seeks short literary fiction for its debut title, to be published in late 2011. The collection will feature work by transgender authors and/or work featuring transgender protagonists. While there is no strict theme, the goal of this collection is to showcase fiction by and about transgender people and culture. The book hopes to reflect the diversity of trans experience; all people are encouraged to participate.

Length: Manuscripts should be fewer than 10,000 words and previously unpublished. Non-English work will be considered if submitted with translation.

Payment: In line with industry standards, to be discussed. Plus, two copies of the completed book.

About The Publishers

Tom Leger and Riley MacLeod have been making work with and for transgender people since 2002. They co-produced the STAGES Transgender Theatre Festival in 2003, a two-week theatre festival of over 40 national and international shows by and about transpeople. They are also the co-writers of both the serial comedic musical play Butch McCloud: Your Friendly Neighborhood Lesbian Superhero and the short film “F. Scott Fitzgerald Slept Here” (dir. Jules Rosskam). They are based in Brooklyn, New York.
