Writing Workshop for LGBT/ Queer Survivors of Sexual Trauma

Post date: 01 October 2010
Date: 7 October 2010

Seven Thursday eves, 6:30-9:00pm. Begins October 7.
A writing workshop open to all LGBTQueerfolks who are survivors of sexual trauma

Join us!

We each need safe space in which to be our whole selves -- to delve into the imaginings that we've learned or been told don't "go with" our public identities. In this workshop we'll celebrate and struggle with the fullness of our expression.

Come together with other survivors to create a space in which we struggle with and celebrate our full, complex sexualities. Each week, we write in response to exercises designed to tap into different aspects of ourselves: memory, experience, relationship with the body, and more! You will get more comfortable exploring and talking about sexualities, receive strong feedback about your new writing, explore the full breadth of our sexualities in a fun and confidential environment - and, of course, try your hand at some explicit erotic writing. Previous participants have found the group to be transformative.

No previous writing experience necessary -- Open to folks of all writing abilities! Limited to 9 writers. Spaces are limited and pre-registration is required. Cost for the 8 week class is on a sliding scale, $225-250 (please contact me about payment plans or other money questions). Workshops held in an accessible and BART-friendly location in downtown San Francisco.

About your facilitator: Jen Cross is a freelance writer and educator whose writing has been published in more than thirty anthologies and periodicals, including (most recently) Visible: A femmethology (vol 1), Nobody Passes, and make/shift: feminisms in motion. Jen's used writing as a transformative, healing practice personally, and has led writing workshops since 2002.
