Serendipity is a boutique literary agency representing a select list of authors and illustrators. Founded by Regina Brooks in 2000, Serendipity has established a diverse base of award-winning clients in adult and young adult fiction, non-fiction, and children's literature.
Foladé Bell, Serendipity's newest agent, is new to the agenting business, and so she needs clients. Most recently, she was an assistant editor at the trade publication, Radio & Records.
She is seeking: literary, upmarket and commercial women’s fiction with a strong sense of story, voice and character; funny and relatable fiction; Daring YA books that showcase a fresh, unique perspective; literary mysteries/thrillers that aren’t formulaic or market saturated, contemporary historical fiction, African-American issues, gay/lesbian, Christian fiction, humor and books that deeply explore other cultures. No subject is out-of-bounds. She loves nonfiction that reads like fiction. Feel free to approach her with ideas adapted from blogs or websites with new views on pop culture.
Submisions:
For adult, young adult, and children's fiction, submit a query letter and a brief synopsis. Send your query to submissions@serendipitylit.com. If you’re querying Foladé , puty "Query for Foladé" in the subject line.
Non-fiction submissions are different. If a fiction query is an attempt to market a completed manuscript, a non-fiction query is usually an attempt to sell a well-developed concept.
