Woohoo! I didn’t get a wink of sleep last night because of the news I got yesterday afternoon. I am contracting with Cleis Press to produce a collection of short stories. I plan on writing only one of the stories, so I need all you writers out there to read on. I will be crafting a formal call for submissions, but wanted to go ahead and get the word out to anyone who might be interested in submitting so you can start thinking/writing now!
The book will be entitled “Girls Who Bite!” and will be a collection of lesbian vampire erotica—leaning toward more romantic stories. HEA’s (Happy Ever After’s) or HFN’s (Happy For Now’s) are needed.
The deadline is shaping up to be November 1st, 2010, but the earlier the better, because if everyone waits until the last minute to submit, I might not have time to ask for revisions that could make your concept work for the collection.
The pay will be $50 per story, which is customary for these collections. Cleis does an excellent job marketing, which means exposure for your name in markets you may not have tapped. Consider it promotion! I know I’ve gained loyal readers through my short stories with both Cleis and Running Press’s Mammoth Books.
