
Chroma is published twice a year. We accept submissions from all people who identify as queer, regardless of sex and sexuality. For a definition of queer, please click here.
All work must be submitted in the relevant submissions period stated below.
Each issue is themed – future themes are:
Issue 12: Theme: Youth – Autumn 2010 (Deadline – 1 August 2010)
Issue 13: Theme: Faith – Spring 2011 (Open for submissions 1 January – 1 April 2011)
Issue 14: Theme: Oceania – Autumn 2011 (Open for submissions 1 June – 1 August 2011)
Issue 15: Theme: Misfits – Spring 2012 (Open for submissions 1 January – 1 April 2012)
Issue 16: Theme: Heroes – Autumn 2012 (Open for submissions 1 June – 1 August 2012)
General
The submission email system automatically deletes submissions that don’t fit into the following criteria, so please read carefully before submitting.
- Email all submissions to submissions(at)chromajournal.co.uk
- Please title your email ‘Prose Submission: [Issue Theme]’ for prose, ‘Poetry Submission: [Issue Theme]’ for poetry submissions and ‘Art Submission: [Issue Theme]‘ for artwork submissions in the subject box of the email
- Please send work in the form of a Word (.doc) file or in Rich Text Format (.rtf)
- Due to the amount of submissions we receive we are unable to personally respond to submissions. All submissions will be read (well over 50% of the work we publish comes from unsolicited submissions), but if you haven’t received a yes from us within one month of the publication date, it means that your submission has not been accepted
Prose
- Please submit only one story at a time
- No previously published material is accepted
- Stories and prose up to 5,000 words
Poetry
- Please submit no more than 3 poems at a time
- Poems should be no longer than 60 lines long
Artwork
- Submit only three images at a time
- We publish drawings, paintings, comics, and photographs
- Please submit artworks as jpgs or PDFs, with a total file size of no larger than 2MB
