The Youth Program at the San Francisco LGBT Community Center is hiring for one 6-month part-time intern. Applications and resumes are due October 31st, 2010. Internships are intended for queer youth ages 18-24. Transgender and Youth of color are encouraged to apply. Please be available for in-person interviews between November 2nd and November 12th, 2010. Start date is November 15th, 2010.
Internship packets are available at the front desk at the LGBT Community Center at 1800 Market Street, San Francisco.
Pay: $12/hr, 15 hours a week

JOB TITLE: Youth Program Intern
REPORTS TO: Youth Program Coordinator
STATUS: 6th Month Paid Internship
GENERAL SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Youth Program Coordinators the Youth Program Intern develops, implements, and supports innovative programming for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning youth. The Youth Program Interns work as part of a youth services team to provide programs for queer and questioning youth in the areas of health and wellness, arts and culture, economic empowerment and recreation. Services are tailored for high school aged youth 17 and under and for homeless and/or marginally housed transitional age youth (18 – 24).
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Coordinate programs for LGBT and questioning youth including one or more of the following activities: facilitation and support drop in activities, coordination of workshops, provision linkage/referral services and youth community action projects. Develop and implement outreach strategies to ensure program promotion and participation. Develop and complete a project to be implemented at the culmination of the internship. Provide monthly written reports and other administrative documentation required by Youth Program Coordinators.
General Program Duties
Provide informational resources and referrals at the Center welcome desk. Actively participate as a member of the program team, including provision of back up for other program staff as needed. Other duties assigned by Youth Program Coordinators. Occasional work on evenings and week-end hours will be required.
