Call for Films, Art Workshops/ Panels: Gender Reel Festival

Gender Reel, the east coasts only multi-media festival dedicated to enhancing the visibility of gender non-conforming and transgender images, experiences and artists will be accepting submissions starting 3/15/12 until 6/15/12.

WHERE AND WHEN IS THE FESTIVAL BEING HELD?

This year, Gender Reel will be held at the William Way Community Center in Philadelphia, PA on 9/7/12-9/9/12.

WHO CAN SUBMIT?

Anyone who identifies as a gender non-conforming, gender variant or transgender person, non-GncGVTG indivduals who are doing work about GncGVTG issues, or anyone who's work challenges the gender binary.

This includes, but is not limited to: Transgender people, genderqueers, gender non-conformers, butches, femmes, bois, AG's, queens, kings, men, women, studs, grrls, transsexuals, FTM's, MTF's, trans men, trans women.......

WHAT CAN YOU SUBMIT?
  • Art
  • Photography
  • Film
  • Hands on art related workshops
  • Panels discussions about art, film, photography, etc.,
  • Performance pieces
  • Art installations

No more than 5 pieces will be accepted from any one artist.

Films can be short or feature length from any genre; documentary, narrative, experimental, animation, etc.,....

All submissions should be made directly through our online submission form at http://genderreelfest.com/?page_id=32.

Decisions regarding acceptance into Gender Reel will be made by our Organizing committee by the end of July, 2012.

Because of funding limitations, GR is unable to cover the cost of travel to and from Philadelphia for artists. Also, we cannot afford to pay shipping costs for individual pieces. However, we are committed to doing what we can do work with artists regarding hardship situations, as well as helping artists from outside the area find a free place to stay when attending the festival.

Any artist who's work is accepted into GR will receive a festival pass, which grants you free admission into the festival, as well as any other festival related event.

Gender Reel is not responsible for any loss or damage to art work and/or films that are sent to us, and/or displayed at the festival itself.
