LGBTQ Studies Prize for Best Student Essay or Project (DePaul University)

Post date: 13 February 2011
Deadline: 2 May 2011

LGBTQ STUDIES PRIZE FOR BEST STUDENT ESSAY OR PROJECT

The LGBTQ Studies Program at DePaul announces a prize for the best undergraduate student essay or project in LGBTQ Studies. LGBTQ Studies analyzes lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer experience from a wide variety of disciplinary perspectives in an attempt to decipher the meanings inscribed in the related discourses of sex, sexuality, and gender. Students may submit any paper or project created for a DePaul class—not necessarily an LGBTQ Studies elective, though certainly students in those classes are encouraged to apply. You are welcome to submit papers or projects that were revised subsequent to the class, and projects may include creative writing samples, as well as work done in other media such as film, design, or web pages. There is no length requirement.

Submissions for the current prize can include work done for any class taken in spring term of academic year 2009-10 up to and including the current spring term. We prefer that you submit papers electronically as an email attachment to Prof. Francesca Royster at froyster@depaul.edu. Alternately, papers and projects may be delivered to Prof. Royster in the Department of English in McGaw Hall. Please include a cover sheet with your submission (available upon request from Prof. Royster). The winning essay or project will be recognized with a certificate and cash prize of $250 at the spring Stonewall Awards Luncheon and LGBTQ Studies Program Student Conference.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: MONDAY, MAY 2, 2011
