Call for Poems/ Essays: Allyance LGBTQ Anthology (Local Gems Press)

Post date: 06 February 2011
Local Gems Poetry Press, in cooperation with the Long Island LGBTQ community, is now taking submissions for its new poetry project, Allyance. The mission statement is as follows:

It is the goal of Allyance, through the art of poetry to be an exchange of experiences, in the form of a collaboration among the Long Island LGBTQ community and its allies far and wide. It is an artifact of LGBTQ existence, a testament to both its struggles and its joys. Allyance hopes to bring these voices to both the Long Island mainstream and the world at large, and to encourage communication about the feelings and experiences of the Long Island LGBTQ community and those who support them.

The anthology (or anthologies) are looking for poetry and (limited) essay submissions concerning poetic testaments and experiences. Submissions should relate to LGBTQ issues, although submissions are open to anyone from Long Island. Send up to 5 poems (or 1 essay) to Allyancesubmissions@gmail.com

Please include name and age if under 18. If over 18, include name and age bracket, (18-24, or over 24) with the submissions. (Project may be divided into separate anthologies; Youth, Mainstream, ect.) Additional comments concerning submissions are welcome.
