Genre Fiction Workshop Added to Existing Schedule of Fiction, Nonfiction & Poetry
The Lambda Literary Foundation is pleased to announce the 2011 Writers’ Retreat for Emerging LGBT Voices to be held August 6-13, 2011 at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
Begun in 2007, the Writers’ Retreat for Emerging LGBT Voices is the first program of its kind ever offered to LGBTQ writers: a one-week intensive workshop immersion in fiction, nonfiction, or poetry. An unparalleled opportunity to learn from the very best writers in the LGBT community, LLF’s Writers’ Retreat is open to emerging LGBT writers of any age.
This year’s stellar faculty includes Lambda Literary Award winning author and editor, Carla Trujillo, who will teach the Fiction Workshop. Back for a second year (and by popular demand) is PEN Center West Rosenthal Emerging Voices Fellow, Ellery Washington, to teach the Nonfiction Workshop. Leading the Poetry Workshop is the extraordinary poet and publisher, Eloise Klein Healy, Founding Chair of the MFA in Creative Writing Program at Antioch University Los Angeles and Distinguished Professor of Creative Writing Emerita.
For 2011 LLF is excited to add a fourth workshop track: Genre Fiction, to be taught by YA and mystery writer, Claire McNab, author of over 60 published books and a UCLA Extension Distinguished Instructor Award recipient in 2007. Please read below for full faculty bios.
To insure the quality of LLF’s Writers’ Retreat, applicants will be evaluated for craft, creativity and originality. Space is limited to approximately 9-12 students per workshop. Some publication history is desirable but not required.
Applications and scholarship requests must be postmarked by or before April 15, 2011.
