This April, Dreyer Press and Boys Who Like Butterflies are curating an art event titled “SEXT” featuring textual ”portraits” of pivotal moments of self-awareness with a focus on experiences of gender and sexuality. The text will be installed directly onto the gallery’s walls with black, Helvetica font vinyl letters as a band of visually interesting, yet monotonous text around the gallery’s interior.
The show will be accompanied by a limited edition book printed by Dreyer Press (Chaotique/DOMA Coffee) featuring the collected writings in a more readable format which will be sold for $20 to the benefit of the Kolva-Sullivan Gallery and a yet-to-be-named nonprofit who will help the artists in supplying the cost of the materials. Writers will be credited accordingly in the publication.
For more information, submission and funding inquiries, please contact Naaman Cordova-Muenzberg (naamancordova@gmail.com), Boys Who Like Butterflies.
100-300 word text/motifs/portraits-in-writing about gender/sexuality must be submitted by January 14th, 2011.
