MettleM - A Journal for the Gay Male in Pictures & Prose, a new magazine providing publishing opportunities for gay writers and artists
Chewable Prose is calling for submissions of gay-themed literary fiction and nonfiction, poetry, opinion, comics and art for its forthcoming title MettleM, to be launched March 2011. MettleM will be a quarterly men’s journal providing opportunities for emerging and established writers and artists to publish their work, which will appear alongside gay-themed visual art features, book reviews, exhibition previews and interviews by the MettleM team of writers.
Submissions for all areas of the magazine are accepted at all times. Submission guidelines can be found on the website and should be read carefully. Only well-drafted, polished and original writing will be considered. Successful entrants receive a modest fee (AUST $100) on publication along with a copy of the magazine. When submitting work, writers and artists are encouraged to take the gay-themed mould, knead it, change it (even smash it if they wish) to create more honest and original writing and art. In the spirit of canvasing the complexities of the gay male’s life, MettleM welcomes submissions from anonymous and non-gay-identifying writers and artists.
With its fresh design and high quality presentation, MettleM is meant to be collected. It is compiled by a passionate, Australian group of writers, artists and designers keen to preserve and promote the rich artistic expressions of men of mettle. It will be the definitive, on-going survey of gay visual and written culture.
