Call For Papers
The June Mazer Lesbian Archives
A conference by and for Lesbian, Gay, Bi and Trans Archives
Alms 2011 is the third international conference focused on public, private, academic, and grassroots archives collecting and preserving materials of all types from LGBT communities to ensure our history survives unchanged. The following topics are of particular interest:
- Fundraising in today’s economy
- Copyright and the internet
- Communities of Color and institutions
- Community Based Archives, Museums, Libraries – their creation, evolution, experiences and needs
- All other topics will be considered
1. Individual Papers
Submit an abstract (250 words), a CV (two page maximum) and a brief biography.
2. Preconstituted Panels
Submit a 250 word description of the panel topic. Academic members of the panel should submit a CV (two pages maximum) and a brief biography. Non-academic/community panel members should submit a brief statement (maximum one page) of the experience/expertise they have on the topic as well as a biography.
3. Roundtable Presentations
This format is designed to foster lively discussion among conference participants. Presentations, given to a small group, must be brief – not more than 15 minutes, and will be followed by 15 minutes of group discussion. After the presentation, group participants can return to any presenter for further discussion of the presenter’s topic.

4. Poster Presentations
This format is intended to offer scholars, especially emerging scholars, a chance to present completed research or research in progress. Community members engaged in research but not affiliated with an educational institution are also invited to present. Each presenter should prepare an engaging presentation that relies less on technology and more on human interaction. There will not be access to electrical outlets. Presenters will assemble in a suitable indoor or outdoor location at UCLA, the afternoon Friday, May 13th. Conference participants will visit with each presenter in an unstructured manner.
Submit a 250 word description of the topic including findings of the research if complete, or working hypothesis if the work is ongoing. Academic presenters should submit a CV (two pages maximum) and a brief biography. Non-academic community presenters should submit a brief statement about the inspiration for the research, methodology and a biography.
