In celebration of National Coming Out Day, NAMI Sonoma County is sponsoring Life After Out, a writing workshop for LGBTQQI youth and allies ages 15-25.
Whether queerness is your central identity or you break out in hives at the sight of a rainbow flag, we all know that there is more to us than our sexuality. Through spoken word, humor, collage, and more, this workshop lets us explore the good and the bad, the craziness and the excellence of what happens after we come out.
Join nationally ranked poetry slam champion, ex punk rocker/emo icon, and owner of MANY fabulous belts, Tristan Silverman and phenomenal performance poets Elaina Ellis and Jovi Radtke on a day-long exploration which breaks open some of the post-closet secrets to becoming queer, an adult, and a life-artist in America today.
The workshop will be followed by a performance and celebration where participants will have an opportunity to share their writing and perform alongside these seasoned performance poets.
Each youth that participates in this event will also receive a free ticket to Positive Images Queercoming IV on October 9, 2010 from 7:00pm - 11:00pm at Monroe Hall in Santa Rosa, CA.
