Every October, Talk About It Magazine derives its inspiration from issues and events that have affected the LGBT community at the University of Michigan. For the magazine’s 2010/2011 edition, Talk About It has proudly selected the Spectrum Center’s 40th anniversary as its forerunning inspiration. Since its groundbreaking inception in 1971 as the country’s first university office for queer students, the Spectrum Center has accumulated a remarkable legacy of improving LGBT college students’ lives and experiences. After four decades of progressive initiatives and program growth, the Spectrum Center stands as one of the country’s preeminent TBGL rights offices. This year’s 40th anniversary is a milestone achievement for the Spectrum Center and the community of Ann Arbor, as well as an indicator of the ever-brightening future that lies ahead.
